Start Positions and Handicaps

This race is a handicapped start based on performances in Rounds 1 and 2. Click here to download the handicap groupings and find out your start time.

The point of handicapping is to give everyone a chance to compete. It's a tricky system to put in place but when it works it leads to incredibly exciting racing for all involved. The comittee base rider groupings on average speed, performance, our knowledge of riders and the courses. As this is the first week of handicapping there may be some teething problems. If you think you or another rider is in the wrong group, please let us know. If you are in Race 1 this week we may move you next week. It changes all the time as people improve throughout the season.

The PDF document detailing the groups attached may not reflect the actual start groups as we will fine tune these groups right up until the race begins. So try to show up at least 15 minutes before your group is due to start.

League Points

From this point onwards there will be two races each night; Race 1 and Race 2. Both races start at the same time! Points will be allocated as normal for each race i.e. there will be two winners each night. There is however only one league and one overall league winner at the end of the season.

Marshalls / Timekeepers

We are always looking for marshalls and people to help out at each race. But we would like to have as many riders on track as possible. As a result, marshalls numbers are limited on a race to race basis. Typically 2 / 3 marshalls are required per night. Marshalls are required to help setup Race HQ and assist with any last minute course marking. Direct traffic and most importantly record times for racers. It's very easy and we'll give anyone who marshalls guidance. Typically we pair a first time marshall with an experienced one. All riders must marshall once per season. In return for marshalling you receive 37 points. You cannot marshall more than twice. If you are injured or unable to race and marshall three times you will not receive any points unfortunately. In order to request a marshall position please post a message on the Cuchulainn Off-Road Facebook page or comment at the bottom of this page and we will schedule you in and publish your name on that specific date on the website.

Course Details (8.8k):
