Club History

Dundalk Cuchulainn Cycling Club is one of the country’s leading cycling club, catering for all types of cycling in the area. Our club, which was voted by the country’s national governing body Cycling Ireland Club of the Year in 2010 & 2012, was founded in 1935 and now stands at a record membership of over 300 cyclists.

Racing

At the heart of the club is it’s racing heritage, where the club’s riders compete in open events throughout the racing season, most recently fielding a Louth Team in the International Cycling Race, the An Post Rás. For those who prefer racing closer to home, the summer months see the hotly contested FPM Accountants Summer Cycling League. Held every Thursday nights male & female cyclists of all ages compete in a handicapped league for the overall title.

Mountain Biking

The club has embraced with open arms the relatively new cycling discipline of mountain biking. With the playground of the Cooley, mountains participants have no end of trails & paths to explore, while at all times being mindful of local agriculture & wildlife. A purpose built off road racing track has been developed on the beautiful estate of Bellurgan Park, which is the envy of many club’s throughout the country.

Ladies Cycling

In recent year’s the club has seen huge growth in the number of women’s riders, to a point now where the club hosts a women’s only road racing league over the summer. This event has been a huge success & see female riders through the provinces of Leinster & Ulster travel to compete.
