AGM Round Up & Cyclo Cross League

Dundalk's Cuchulainn Cycling Club recently held their AGM in The Spirit Store to discuss the season past and to outline the future development of the club. Club Chairman Sé Weston in his opening address outlined some of the some of the club's milestones over the year, in particular the number of female members in the club, which has grown to 20% of it's almost 400 strong membership. Another huge growth area for the club has been the underage section. Under the tutelage of Philip Kerley, the Monday night cyclo cross regularly sees in excess of 40 children from 8 through to 15 years old taking part.

As always the leisure section remains the largest and most visible section of the club and their annual event, the Tour of Louth was an unprecedented success on the June Bank Holiday weekend. Such was its appeal that Cycling Ireland has nominated it for the Leisure event of the Year, with the winner to be announced at the federation's gala event at the end of November. Also once again the club has been nominated as club of the year, a title it has won 3 times in the previous 10 years.

Meanwhile the Bike Station Cyclo Cross league continues, with the most recent round going to Aaronn McCann. Aaronn has picked up some good placings on the open racing front and most recently moved up to the A racing category in the Leinster League. Aaronn's win keeps the pressure on league leader Ray O`Shaughnessey.
