Traders Cup 2016

Well Done to Celine Mc Phillips who won the prize for 1st Club Lady home from todays Trader's Cup - Sunday 21st February 2016.

15 racers representing 10 clubs took part. 4 cyclists from Cuchulainn CC took part- the experienced Celine Mc Phillips up against League racers Linda Stokes and Rosemary Gibson, and Rosena Lynch in her very first race ever. Trader's Cup is an open race made up of experienced racers and those racing for the first time. Conditions were wet but with a warm breeze with the rain staying away.
The group set off at a steady pace until Dunleer Roundabout, then the pace livened up. The main body stayed together until Ardee Roundabout.Celine Mc Phillips broke clear in a group of 5 and managed to stay away to the end. With 300metres to go, 3 made a sprint to the finish, Celine Mc Phillips finished just behind them in the top 5.
Rosena Lynch and Linda Stokes were in the main body of the race. There was a game of cat and mouse going across the Ardee Link Road. They finished strong but were unable to close the gap, finishing just behind Johanna Rogan of Ardee CC. Rosemary Gibson and Marcella LeonardArdee CC put in strong performances. 
Race over, they were delighted with their performances and experience. All that winter training is paying off. Plenty of practice for our summer league.
