Linda Stokes Wins the Ladies Louth Road Race Champs

Congratulations and Well Done to all the Ladies who raced in the Louth Road Race Champs on Sun 23rd August. The route was 54km - Oriel Park, Carrick, Ardee, Dorians, CBellingham and finishing at the Fane Bridge. This route means a LOT of tough rolling hills.

1st Place -    Linda Stokes Cuchulainn CC

2nd Place -  Johanna Rogan Ardee CC

3rd Place -   Jan Conlon Cuchulainn CC

4h Place -     Rosemary Gibson Cuchulainn CC

Conditions were horrible- wet and miserable long before the race even started- which made it even tougher. The rain eased off on the way back to Ardee. The Ladies race started only a few mins before the mens. The speed was fast from the word go - 38km - even on the drags. Such was the strength of the Ladies- the lads didn't catch them until past the far side of Carrick. Even then they were able to catch on to the back and keep up.

Half way there- just the never-ending stretch from Ardee- Dorians- CBellingham and home. A couple more hills then flat flat flat. No let up at the finishing line- the girls just raced through. Linda was first lady home, followed quickly by Johanna and then Jan. Rosemary finished just a couple of minutes behind and was flanked by Karl and Liam Dolan.
