Covid-19 Update: Message for our Members

On behalf of myself and the club committee I want to express our thanks to everyone who has supported the Government Guidelines and Cycling Ireland (CI) position on cycling in the current difficult environment. I hope that you and your families are all well and continue to be in the coming weeks.

There has been a renewed emphasis on the importance of everyone adhering to the Government Guidelines and I believe it’s important that we all play our part by continuing to support both the club and CI stated position. All club activities continue to be suspended until further notice and no club member should be cycling unless it’s in line with the exceptions outlined in Government communications.

It’s great to hear so many reports of club members participating in Zoom turbo sessions, Zwift sessions, and engaging in walking or other forms of limited exercise. It’s also great to see members taking part in the weekly quiz on Zoom.

For those members who would like to take part in some yoga classes you can go to Laura O’Driscoll’s YouTube channel “Yoga for the Athlete with Laura”. The classes are particularly suited to cyclists and Laura is happy to share them with you.. Laura has led yoga classes for club members during the past few years.

We all miss getting out on the open road especially as the weather improves and the days get longer. However this is the time where we need to remain committed to supporting the Government, CI and Club position. If everyone keeps up the effort the quicker, we will get back to normal and contribute to the health and wellbeing of club members, the cycling community, our families and friends and the public.

We convey our condolences to those members who have recently lost loved ones. You are in our thoughts and our prayers at this very difficult time.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our members who are working on the front line or providing essential services. We really appreciate all your efforts.
